Saved templates

Workroom lets you save your most-used contracts (or single sections) as templates so you can build a contract for the next client in under a minute.

Save a whole contract as a template

  1. Open the contract you want to template

  2. In the editor menu → Save as templateWhole contract

  3. Name the template, add a description (optional)

  4. Save

The template is stored against your studio — every team member can pick it.

Save a single section

Useful for one-off boilerplate (a specific Legal clause, a standard Payment Terms block):

  1. Click the section you want to save

  2. In the section's three-dot menu → Save as section template

  3. Name + description

  4. Save

Use a saved template

  • On the New Contract modal, your saved whole-contract templates appear in the template gallery

  • Inside an existing contract, in the section rail → + Add componentFrom saved section templates

Manage templates

Settings → Contracts → Templates lists every saved template. From here you can:

  • Rename

  • Delete

  • See which section types each template covers

Walter — your AI assistant

Walter lives in the section rail (look for the sparkles icon). He can do four things:

Draft a section

  1. Click any empty section

  2. Walter panel → Draft this section

  3. Describe what you want ("Scope of work for a residential kitchen remodel, 8 deliverables")

  4. Walter writes a first draft; review + edit

Improve a section

  1. Click an existing section

  2. Walter → Improve

  3. Optional: tell him what to focus on ("more formal tone", "shorten")

  4. He rewrites; accept or undo

Generate bullets

For bulleted sections (Scope, Revisions, Warranties):

  1. Click the section

  2. Walter → Generate items

  3. Say what you want ("8 deliverables for a master bath renovation")

  4. He produces a numbered list

Draft a whole contract

  1. New Contract → skip template gallery → Draft with Walter

  2. Describe the engagement ("Residential interior design, $25,000 flat fee, 4 months, San Francisco")

  3. Walter produces every section; review + edit before sending

Troubleshooting

  • "Walter couldn't generate content." Usually a transient AI service blip. Try again in 30 seconds. If it keeps failing, the OpenAI/Anthropic API may be having an outage — check status.anthropic.com.

  • Walter's output is generic. Link a Client + Project to the contract before invoking Walter. He pulls context from those records to tailor the output.

  • Saved template doesn't include my recent edits. Templates snapshot the contract at save time — they don't auto-update when you edit the source. Save a new version if you want the edits captured.
